In September, we invite you to join us, learn the principles and practice of building with earth, and become part of this creative process. Building with earth also means building a community, as earth attracts and connects us in creative work.

The purpose of this year’s pavilion is to test additives in the earth mixture and examine their impact on the structure’s resistance to various weather conditions. Therefore, we have chosen round columns, which are evenly exposed to all directions.

The pavilion’s design is minimalist: round columns, made using standard formwork (⌀ 30 cm), are placed on foundations made from standard concrete pipes (⌀ 38 cm). Prefabricated concrete covers protect the columns from water.

The workshop will take place from Tuesday, September 3rd, to Saturday, September 7th in Outsider’s Center for Building with Earth in Dobrava pri Škocjanu (map). The first three days will be dedicated to building the columns, and on the last day, we will create the protective roof. The workshop is free of charge, and participants can stay overnight in the shared spaces of the Center, which also provides a bathroom. The Center is a space for cultural and creative exchange, situated in beautiful nature, providing an inspiring environment for work and learning.
